ASTRAL FOLK

The stars spoke once to man. It is world-destiny that they are silent now. To be aware of the silence can become pain for earthly man. But in the deepening silence there grows and ripens, that which man speaks to the stars. - Rudolf Steiner

Crooked Mouth is a spell against the ailments of the modern and post-modern world. It is music searching for purity of expression, healing, and self-transformation through the spiritual/artistic act. The albums are signposts on a journey. The live performance is ritual and communion. The band draws inspiration from the western esoteric tradition, European paganism, magick, folklore, dreams and of course, the underground music of the 20th and 21st centuries to create a combination of acoustic and electric music that resonates equal parts melancholy and reverie. The band is equally at home in a club, on a festival stage, or under a sacred oak tree.

Since it's inception, Crooked Mouth has operated with a spirit of open collaboration between musicians. Over the years, Ian Campbell has led the band and played alongside a-dozen-or-so other musicians. The band also keeps a close, yet international circle of artistic friends, having played as part of, or in collaboration with Art Abscons, Night Profound, Headstone Brigade, and other luminaries of the neofolk scene.

When Campbell moved to Vilnius, Lithuania in 2022, Adam Ormes joined the band as a second permanent member. They are currently joined live by Glabis Niktorius (Romowe Rikoito) and Agota Zdanavičiūtė (Sen Svaja).
